Prelims Strategy — Section by Section

English Language (30Q · 30M · 20 min)

High

Reading Comprehension (RC) is the anchor — usually 2 RCs with 5–7 questions each. Start with RC. Attempt Error Detection and Fill-in-the-Blanks next. Para Jumbles last. Target: 22–25 correct.

Quantitative Aptitude (35Q · 35M · 20 min)

High

Data Interpretation (DI) sets (15–20 marks) and Number Series are the must-attempt slots. Attempt Simplification first (fastest marks), then Number Series, then DI. Leave time-heavy Arithmetic problems for last. Target: 25–28 correct.

Reasoning Ability (35Q · 35M · 20 min)

High

Puzzles and Seating Arrangement dominate (20–25 marks). Quickly scan puzzle difficulty — skip complex multi-row puzzles and return if time permits. Inequality and Syllogism are quick wins. Target: 27–30 correct.

Mains Strategy

Banking Awareness is the difference-maker

General/Economy/Banking (40Q/40M) is where aspirants gain or lose rank. Build a strong foundation in RBI policy, banking regulation, recent mergers, Basel III, NPA norms, and government schemes. Follow RBI press releases weekly.

Descriptive Test — practice weekly

Letter Writing (formal) and Essay are often neglected. Practice writing 2 descriptive answers per week from October. Focus on structure, vocabulary, and not exceeding the word limit. Your typing speed matters — aim for 30+ WPM.

Data Interpretation is harder in Mains

Mains DI involves complex multi-set tables, missing DI, and Caselet-based sets. These require quick mental calculation. Practice daily DI sets from level 2–3 difficulty books.

Manage sectional time strictly

Each Mains section has its own timer. You cannot carry over time. Sequence: start with GA/Banking (35 min, fixed facts — fastest), then English (40 min), then Reasoning (60 min), then Data Analysis (45 min).
