State Bank of India (SBI) has officially invited applications from qualified retired defence and paramilitary personnel for 5 Specialist Cadre Officer (SCO) positions under Advertisement No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/10. These are contractual roles specifically designed for senior retired officers from the Indian Navy and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), as well as retired Army officers who will serve as advisors in SBI's defence banking vertical. Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a Graduate degree from a recognised university or institution.
Post-Specific Service Requirements
- Defence Banking Advisor (Navy): Must have retired at the rank of Vice Admiral or Rear Admiral from the Indian Navy.
- Advisor (Central Armed Police Force): Must have retired at the rank of Director General (DG) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in CAPF service.
- Circle Defence Banking Advisor (CDBA): Must have retired at the rank of Major General or Brigadier from the Indian Army.
Age Limit
- Defence Banking Advisor (Navy): Maximum age of 62 years
- Advisor (CAPF): Maximum age of 62 years
- Circle Defence Banking Advisor (CDBA): Maximum age of 60 years
Application Fee
- General / EWS / OBC: ₹750
- SC / ST / PwBD: Nil
Salary & Compensation
- Defence Banking Advisor (Navy): Total CTC of ₹37.95 LPA comprising a fixed component of ₹34.50 LPA and a variable performance-linked pay of ₹3.45 LPA (10% of fixed). No annual increments are applicable.
- Advisor (CAPF) & Circle Defence Banking Advisor (CDBA): Total CTC of ₹26.95 LPA comprising a fixed component of ₹24.50 LPA and a variable component of ₹2.45 LPA (10% of fixed). No annual increments are applicable.
Selection Process
SBI will select candidates for these Specialist Cadre Officer positions through the following two-stage process:
- Shortlisting: Applications will be screened based on the prescribed eligibility criteria and service background. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the next stage.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear before a selection panel for a personal interview to assess their domain expertise and suitability for the advisory role.
