State Bank of India's Central Recruitment & Promotion Department (CRPD), Corporate Centre, Mumbai has issued Advertisement No. CRPD/RS/2026-27/08 dated 14 May 2026 to engage 821 Retired Bank Officers as Concurrent Auditors on a contractual basis under its Internal Audit Department (IAD), Corporate Centre, Hyderabad. The engagement is spread across 17 SBI Circles pan-India. This is a purely contractual role with a minimum tenure of one year and a maximum of three years, or until the officer reaches 65 years of age — whichever is earlier. Importantly, the publication of this notification supersedes the existing wait list of empanelled Concurrent Auditors; however, waitlisted officers who remain otherwise eligible may apply afresh.

Vacancy Details

A total of 821 vacancies are available across 17 SBI Circles, covering both regular and backlog positions. Reservation is in accordance with Government of India directives. The actual number of vacancies is provisional and may be revised based on the Bank's operational requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible Grade at Retirement

Applicants must have retired from SBI or one of its erstwhile Associate Banks on superannuation at the age of 60 years. Officers who took voluntary retirement, resigned, were placed under suspension, or otherwise separated from the Bank before completing superannuation are not eligible — with the sole exception being those who fulfilled both conditions of completing 58 years of age and 30 years of qualifying service/pensionable service as per e-Circular No. CDO/P&HRD-PM/20/2022-23 dated 21.06.2022; such officers become eligible upon attaining 60 years of age.

Eligible retired grades are: MMGS-III, SMGS-IV, SMGS-V, and TEGS-VI.

Experience

While no formal educational qualification is prescribed, candidates with a professional background in credit appraisal, audit, or foreign exchange (Forex) operations will be given preference.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 60 years (must have retired on superannuation)
  • Maximum Age: 63 years as on 14 May 2026 (since the contract may extend up to 65 years)
  • No age relaxation is available for SC/ST/OBC or any other reserved category

Integrity & Performance

  • The applicant must have a clean service record with no disciplinary penalty of Censure or higher awarded within five years prior to retirement.
  • No cases should be pending with CBI or any law enforcement agency.
  • The officer must not be involved in any assignment with another organisation during the contract period.
  • Good health is mandatory; applicants should not be suffering from any major medical condition.

Selection Process

The selection for the Concurrent Auditor role involves two stages:

  1. Shortlisting: Applications will be screened based on eligibility and the profile of the applicant. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
  2. Interview: The interview carries a total of 100 marks. Call letters will be sent exclusively via e-mail; no hard copies will be dispatched. Candidates are advised to monitor their registered e-mail and the official SBI Careers portal for interview schedules.

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance in the interview, subject to verification of all eligibility conditions.
