Overview
State Bank of India's Central Recruitment & Promotion Department (CRPD), Mumbai, has rolled out a large-scale engagement drive for 7,150 Apprentice positions under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961. This is a structured one-year on-the-job training programme spread across 34 States and Union Territories of India. Vide Advertisement No. CRPD/APPR/2026-27/07 dated 19 May 2026, eligible graduates can register on the NAPS portal and submit their applications online. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹15,000/- for the entire duration of the training. This engagement does not constitute a regular employment or service under SBI.

Vacancy Details
A total of 7,150 training seats are distributed across 34 States and Union Territories, with reservations maintained for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and UR categories. Horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) is embedded within the overall vacancies. Applicants are permitted to apply for engagement in one State/UT only. Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a graduation degree from a recognised university or institution as on 01 April 2026.
- Age: Applicants must be between 20 and 28 years of age as on 01 April 2026. Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC and PwBD candidates as per prevailing government guidelines.
- NAPS Registration (Mandatory): Prior registration on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in is compulsory before submitting the SBI application.
- Single State Application: Each candidate may apply for one State/UT only and is eligible to appear in the selection process once under this recruitment project.
- Category Lock: Changes to the category once submitted will not be entertained under any circumstance.
Selection Process
The selection of Apprentices will be carried out through a multi-stage process:
- Online Written Examination: Objective-type test tentatively scheduled for July 2026. The exam will assess general aptitude, reasoning, and language proficiency.
- Test of Local Language: Candidates shortlisted from the written test will undergo a local language proficiency test specific to their applied State/UT. Dates will be notified separately.
- Medical Examination: Final candidates will be required to clear a medical fitness test before being offered the apprenticeship.
Admit cards and the 'Acquaint Yourself' booklet are expected to be available for download tentatively in June 2026 from the SBI official website.
How to Apply
- Visit the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and complete your registration as a candidate apprentice. This step is mandatory before proceeding.
- Navigate to the Careers section on the official SBI website at sbi.co.in/careers.
- Locate the SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification (Advt. No. CRPD/APPR/2026-27/07) and click on the online application link.
- Fill in all required personal, educational, and NAPS registration details carefully. Upload scanned copies of photograph, signature, and relevant documents as specified.
- Pay the application fee (if applicable) through the designated online payment gateway.
- Review the completed form thoroughly and submit before the closing date of 08 June 2026. Retain a printout of the submitted application for future reference.
