Overview
State Bank of India's Central Recruitment & Promotion Department (CRPD), Mumbai, has formally notified the engagement of 7,150 Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961, vide Advertisement No. CRPD/APPR/2026-27/07 dated 19 May 2026. This large-scale apprenticeship initiative spans 34 States and Union Territories across the country and provides eligible graduates with a structured, one-year on-the-job training experience within India's largest public sector bank. Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of ₹15,000/- and will gain firsthand exposure to banking operations, processes, and customer service practices. Note that this engagement does not constitute regular employment with SBI.

Vacancy Details
The 7,150 training seats are distributed across 34 States and Union Territories, with reservations for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and UR candidates. Horizontal reservation is provided for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). Candidates may apply for engagement in only one State/UT, and the vacancy count is provisional, subject to revision based on actual bank requirements.

Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a graduation degree from a university or institute recognised by a relevant statutory authority. The qualification must be obtained on or before 01 April 2026.
- Age: Applicants must be between 20 and 28 years of age as on 01 April 2026. Age relaxation is applicable to reserved category candidates as per prevailing government guidelines.
- NAPS Registration: Prior enrolment on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in is mandatory before submitting the SBI application.
- Single State Application: Each candidate may apply for apprenticeship engagement in only one State or UT. Category once selected cannot be changed after registration.
- One-Time Participation: Candidates are permitted to appear in the written examination only once under this recruitment cycle.
Selection Process
The selection of apprentices will be carried out through a three-stage process:
- Online Written Examination: An objective-type test is tentatively scheduled for July 2026. The exam will assess candidates on relevant aptitude and banking awareness parameters.
- Test of Local Language: Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the local/official language of the State or UT for which they have applied. This round will be conducted after declaration of written test results.
- Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a medical fitness assessment before final engagement as apprentices.
There is no interview component in this recruitment. Merit will be determined based on written test performance, subject to qualifying the language and medical tests.

- Visit the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and complete your registration as an apprentice candidate. This step is mandatory.
- Navigate to the Careers section on SBI's official website at sbi.co.in/careers.
- Locate the SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification and click on the online application link.
- Fill in all required personal, educational, and NAPS registration details carefully.
- Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and other relevant documents as specified in the notification.
- Pay the applicable application fee (if any) through the prescribed online payment mode.
- Submit the completed application form and retain a printout for future reference.
Note: The online application window is open from 19 May 2026 to 08 June 2026. Applications received after the deadline will not be entertained. Candidates are advised to read the official notification PDF carefully before applying.
