Overview

The Salem District Administration, operating under the Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission (TNSLRM) – commonly known as Mahalir Thittam – has released an official recruitment notification inviting applications for 197 Community Bank Coordinator positions at the Village Panchayat level. These posts are spread across 19 blocks within Salem District and are intended for active members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) who are affiliated with Village Panchayat Level Federations. Engagement will be on a contractual basis. Candidates must apply offline on or before 29 May 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have successfully completed their 12th Standard (Higher Secondary) examination from a recognised board.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in reading, writing, and spoken Tamil and English is mandatory.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience working as an Animator within a Self Help Group (SHG) is required. Candidates must also be active members of the Village Panchayat Level Federation SHG.
  • Age Limit: Applicants must be below 35 years of age as on the date of notification. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates in accordance with prevailing government rules.
  • Additional Preferred Skills: Basic computer literacy, possession of a valid two-wheeler driving licence, ability to operate an Android smartphone (including SMS and WhatsApp communication), hands-on experience in bank transactions and loan documentation, and effective interpersonal communication skills will be advantageous.
  • Community Requirement: Candidates must belong to the target group as identified through the community-level assessment process.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be carried out through a structured process comprising document verification and eligibility scrutiny, followed by an interview or verification round conducted by the designated authorities. Shortlisting will be based on the candidate's qualifications, relevant SHG experience, and overall suitability for the role. Candidates who meet the criteria and perform satisfactorily in the selection round will be appointed on a contractual basis.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted in offline mode only — either in person or by post — to the respective Village Panchayat Level Federation (Kootamaippu) office corresponding to the block where the vacancy exists. The following documents must be enclosed as self-attested copies along with the application form:

  • 12th Standard Mark Sheet / Pass Certificate
  • Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate / School Transfer Certificate)
  • SHG Membership Certificate
  • Experience Certificate as Animator (evidencing a minimum of 2 years)
  • Community / Target Group Certificate (if applicable)
  • Valid Two-Wheeler Driving Licence (if available)
  • Any other supporting documents relevant to the application

  2. Visit or contact the concerned Block Level Federation Office to obtain the official application format and confirm vacancy details.
  3. Carefully fill in the application form with accurate information.
  4. Attach all required self-attested documents to the completed form.
  5. Submit the application — either in person or by post — to the relevant Panchayat Level Federation Office before the closing date of 29 May 2026.

Note: Only SHG members who are enrolled with the respective Village Panchayat Level Federation are eligible to apply. Candidates with computer skills, a valid driving licence, and experience handling digital communication tools will be given preference during selection.
