Overview
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has officially launched its CRP SPL-XVI recruitment cycle, inviting applications from eligible candidates for the post of Specialist Officer (Scale I) across 11 Public Sector Banks in India. A total of 745 indicative vacancies have been announced under this drive, spanning six distinct specialist roles. This recruitment is aimed at filling positions for the financial year 2027–28, and the entire application process is conducted in online mode only through the official IBPS portal at www.ibps.in.
The 11 participating public sector banks include Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, UCO Bank, and Union Bank of India.

IT Officer carries the largest share of openings, accounting for over 40% of total vacancies, followed by Agricultural Field Officer and Law Officer.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026)
Candidates must be a minimum of 20 years and a maximum of 30 years of age as on 01 July 2026. This means applicants should have been born not before 02 July 1996 and not after 01 July 2006. The following age relaxations are applicable for reserved categories:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years
- Ex-Servicemen / Commissioned Officers: 5 years
Educational Qualification (as on 21 July 2026)
- IT Officer: A 4-year degree in Engineering or Technology with specialisation in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a closely related discipline; OR a postgraduate degree in a relevant field; OR a graduate degree combined with a DOEACC 'B' Level certification.
- Agricultural Field Officer: A 4-year graduation degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Dairy Science, Fishery Science, or any other allied agricultural discipline.
- Rajbhasha Adhikari: Postgraduate degree in Hindi with English studied at the graduation level; OR a postgraduate degree in Sanskrit with both English and Hindi as subjects during graduation.
- Law Officer: A Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B) with enrolment as an advocate with the Bar Council.
- HR/Personnel Officer: A graduate degree along with a 2-year full-time postgraduate degree or diploma in Personnel Management, Human Resource Management, or Industrial Relations.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates for IBPS Specialist Officer posts under CRP SPL-XVI will be conducted through a multi-stage process:
- Online Preliminary Examination: An objective-type screening test to shortlist candidates for the Main Exam. The Prelims is tentatively scheduled for August 2026.
- Online Main Examination: A more comprehensive objective test specific to the specialist post applied for, tentatively scheduled for November 2026.
- Interview: Candidates who qualify the Main Examination will be called for a personal interview round, expected in November–December 2026.
- Provisional Allotment: Final selection and bank allotment will be based on the combined performance in the Main Exam and Interview, with allotment expected in January 2027.

- Pay the applicable application fee or intimation charges online between 01 July 2026 and 21 July 2026.
- Review all entries before final submission and save a printed copy of the completed application for future reference.
