Negative Marking

1/4 mark deducted for each wrong answer. No penalty for unattempted questions. Avoid guessing randomly — mark only when reasonably confident.

Bilingual Paper

Professional Knowledge section is available in both English and Hindi. English Language section is in English only.

Qualifying marks (English)

Minimum 35% for General/EWS candidates; 30% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD. English marks are NOT added to the merit list.

Qualifying marks (Professional Knowledge)

Minimum 35% for General/EWS; 30% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD. These marks form the merit list for shortlisting to interview.

Interview shortlisting ratio

Candidates scoring minimum qualifying marks in the exam are shortlisted for interview at 1:3 ratio (3 candidates per vacancy). Interview carries 100 marks.

Final selection weightage

Online Exam 70% + Personal Interview 30% = Combined merit. A candidate must qualify both stages independently.

Application Registration

Fill online form at bankofindia.bank.in. Upload photo, signature, thumb impression and handwritten declaration. Pay fee online. 30 June – 20 July 2026.

Eligibility Scrutiny

Bank shortlists candidates based on uploaded documents, qualifications, and experience certificates. No second chance to upload documents — ensure all are uploaded at registration.

Online Examination

125 questions in 120 minutes. English (25Q) + Professional Knowledge (100Q). Admit card available on BOI website. No hard copy sent by post.

Merit List & Interview Shortlisting

Merit list prepared on Professional Knowledge marks in descending order per category. Top 3× candidates per vacancy called for interview. In case of tie — senior in age ranked higher.

Personal Interview

100 marks. Minimum 50% for Gen/EWS, 45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD. Biometric verification (thumb, IRIS). Produce original documents. SC/ST outstation candidates get 2nd class rail/bus fare reimbursement.

Final Merit & Appointment

Combined score (Exam 70% + Interview 30%) determines final merit. Final selection up to advertised vacancies. Medical examination and joining formalities follow.

The Professional Knowledge section (100 marks) is the decisive section for Credit Officers. It tests your knowledge of credit operations, banking regulations, and financial analysis.

Career Path After Selection

Specialised GBO Stream

Selected candidates join as Credit Officers in the General Banking Officer (GBO) Stream. Initial posting is in credit-related roles — credit appraisal, loan processing, monitoring, recovery.

Promotion to Higher Scales

Career progression follows Bank of India's extant Promotion Policy. After completing the required service and performance criteria, Credit Officers can participate in promotions along with other GBOs and move to higher scales.

Posting Across India

BOI reserves the right to post/transfer selected officers anywhere in India as per operational requirements. Candidates should be prepared for pan-India postings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many vacancies are there in BOI Credit Officers 2026?

779 total vacancies — 677 in MMGS-II, 61 in MMGS-III, and 41 in SMGS-IV. This includes 475 unfilled vacancies carried forward from Project 2025-26/01 dated 01.11.2025.

Is there negative marking in the BOI Credit Officers exam?

Yes. 1/4 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. No penalty for unattempted questions. It is advisable to leave questions you are unsure about rather than guessing.

Is the English Language section counted in the merit list?

No. English Language (25 marks) is qualifying only. Marks are not added to the merit list. Only Professional Knowledge (100 marks) forms the basis of merit for interview shortlisting.

What documents should I carry to the exam centre?

Admit Card/Call Letter + photocopy of a valid Photo ID (PAN, Passport, Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving Licence, Bank Passbook with photo). Original ID + photocopy must be submitted. Ration card and Learner's Driving Licence are not accepted.

Can I change my exam centre after applying?

No. No request for change of examination centre will be entertained once the application is submitted. Bank may also allot a different centre than the one opted for.

What is the minimum qualifying mark in the Professional Knowledge test?

35% for General/EWS candidates. 30% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates filling reserved vacancies. Candidates must qualify both English and Professional Knowledge sections independently to be considered for interview shortlisting.

Will BOI conduct the exam or only an interview?

Bank of India may conduct selection through online exam + interview, or only through interview depending on the number of applicants. If no exam is conducted, shortlisting for interview will be based on qualification, experience, and overall suitability. Watch the official website for updates.

When will the BOI Credit Officers result be declared?

The exam date is yet to be announced. Results for the online exam are typically declared 4–6 weeks after the exam. Interview results follow the interview process. Final selection and appointment letters are sent after medical examination. Register on Bankopedia for updates.
